PE and Games are offered to all students throughout their school career. It is also possible to take Sports Studies as a GCSE option at KS4.
In addition to extensive fields and re-gra area, the department has a purpose built Sports hall, a fully equipped weights room and use of a further multi-purpose space, equipped with sprung floor, ropes, wall bars and climbing frames.
As well as three full-time and four part-time specialists, teaching is supplemented by a number of sports coaches who visit the school on a regular basis.
Pupils have access to sports areas before and after school and can take part in a wide variety of extra-curricular activities both on site and at other local venues.
Teaching in the department aims to develop the competence to excel in a broad range of physical activities and enable students to be physically active for sustained periods of time.
Students are encouraged to adopt a healthy and active lifestyle by engaging in competitive sports and activities and to develop skills of team work and leadership.
