2014 Year 7 Residential

This residential for year 7 was at a totally new venue this year, the Snowball Plantation Scouts centre in York. The trip was provided free of charge and approx. 100 children went on four different dates. The focus was on team building as well as gaining confidence and independence.

Year 7 students went along in houses with their knapsacks on their backs and definitely did some wandering. The Kirklees staff were fantastic with the children and all took part in activities including canoeing, rock climbing and archery and even some baseball (the boys didn’t want to do rounders), as well as student- organised football matches. Tea was fish and chips – delicious! All pupils did really well and those who were worried about some activities really overcame their fears!

The whole event was a great success allowing students (and some staff) to take part in activities that they would normally never get the chance to participate in. We all came back exhausted; especially the staff. Thank you to all who attended. It was a great success.

Roll on next year!
