Your child’s emotional wellbeing and mental health is so important to us and we want to make sure that we are all healthy inside and out. All of us will need help with our mental health at some point. It is a strength to ask for help and recognise when we need external help. On this page there are a number of links to help you support yourself or your child. Miss Mackay is our emotional well-being lead in school but there is also Mrs Coates, Mrs Butler, Miss Hall and Mrs Womersley who are fully trained Thrive Practitioners and are also able to help you. Please ring or pop in and ask to speak to them.

Kirklees Suicide Prevention Action Group

The Kirklees Suicide Prevention Action Group has shared information on a new national text line that has been launched. Information on the launch including how the Royal Foundation (William, Kate, Harry and Meghan) is supporting this can be found in this BBC News story.

The number to text is 85258.

It is a free, anonymous 24/7 text service for anyone in crisis anytime, anywhere and a place to go if you’re struggling to cope and need immediate help. The trained Crisis Volunteers can help with issues such as suicidal thoughts; abuse or assault; self-harm; bullying and relationship challenges. The conversation only ends once the person is in a calm, safe place and ideally with a plan for support going forward.

During the 12 month pilot, 60,000 conversations took place and Shout research suggests 85% of these were from people aged 25 or under. Further information on the service can be found at the Shout website: https://www.giveusashout.org/

Escayp

Caring for a child / young person can be one of the most difficult roles anyone can undertake. At times life can be tough and watching someone you care about struggle to make sense of their emotions and behaviours can be difficult. When a young person is feeling stressed or anxious, angry or upset, or when bad things have happened, they may benefit from some extra help from outside the family. That one person they can talk to in confidence.

Escayp offers 8/10 counselling / therapeutic play sessions in a confidential and supportive space. The young person will be given the opportunity to express their feelings and to explore issues that are concerning them. We aim to support them in coping with these issues in a secure and safe environment.

Northorpe Hall
