Positive Behaviour
At Netherhall St James CofE (VC) Infant & Nursery School we are committed to ensuring that our school environment is safe, secure and focused on learning. We value all our children and treat everyone in our school community with respect, to promote their safety and wellbeing.
Our Core Values underpin everything we do, and our school rules are simple and clear. We maintain a positive approach to discipline; we strive to be fair and consistent and keep parents and carers informed.
We are a THRIVE setting. The THRIVE approach is an approach to working with children to support and nurture their social and emotional development. All staff are trained in the THRIVE approach which means they have a clear understanding how to help children to develop into healthy, happy confident children who are open to learning. We also have 4 accredited THRIVE practitioners who are able to deliver targeted support programme to both individual and targeted groups of children if needed.
We aim to meet the needs of each individual and motivate pupils to be kind through specific praise, individual class pebble systems, stickers, the 'golden chair', and star of the week certificates. A lovely feature of Friday mornings is our Celebration Assembly, where we share progress and successes with the whole school and the parents of our star pupils.
