Behaviour and Learning at Netherhall St James CofE (VC) Infant & Nursery School
At our school, we promote a consistent and positive approach to behaviour that helps every child feel safe, valued, and ready to learn. Our approach is simple, inclusive, built around a strong sense of belonging and underpinned by our Christian values of Love, Trust, Compassion and Respect..
Our Class Charter
Each day, children are reminded of our shared values through a simple phrase:
“We are safe, we are special, we belong.”
This helps to create a calm, respectful, and supportive environment for everyone.
Our School Rules
We follow three clear expectations across the school:
- Be safe
- Be respectful
- Be responsible
These are taught, modelled, and reinforced in all areas of school life.
Celebrating Success
We believe in recognising and celebrating achievements in a variety of ways, including:
- Class rewards (such as group points or “pebble jars”)
- Individual rewards for effort and progress
- Special recognition from school leaders
These rewards help to motivate pupils and build a strong sense of community.
Supporting Positive Behaviour
When behaviour falls below expectations, staff respond in a calm and consistent way. Children are supported to reflect on their actions, understand how others may feel, and make positive choices moving forward.
We work closely with parents where needed to ensure the best outcomes for every child.
Supporting Every Child
We recognise that all children are different. Our approach takes into account individual needs, including social, emotional, and sensory development, ensuring that every child is supported to succeed.
