Personal, Social, Health and Citizenship Education (PSHCE)

Why study PSHCE at Netherhall Learning Campus High School?

In PSHCE the topics covered are all very relevant to young people growing up in the 21st century and cover aspects of many of the challenges they will have to face on their journey into adulthood.

Why does PSHCE matter as a subject?

PSHCE gives students the opportunity to engage with topics and issues outside the usual confines of the academic curriculum. As such, it is not formally assessed giving the students the freedom to engage with topics and issues more openly and honestly.

What does PSHCE help young people to achieve?

PSHCE equips students with the strategies to make informed decisions about their mental, physical and reproductive health as well as their economic wellbeing as they grow up. In addition, it also prepares students to participate fully as citizens of the United Kingdom. It also points students towards sources of help and advice to help them deal with the issues in the modern world.

Key Stage 3 Curriculum:

Rationale:

In KS3 we aim to equip students for life in the twenty first century. The course is wide-ranging and learners are encouraged to debate issues, looking at different sides of the same argument as they develop their own views and determine how they might respond to some of the questions posed by an increasingly global society.
