What can I do after the course?

Any achievement in this course can be used as part of an application to a potential college or employer along with other grades you have achieved when you leave school. For many courses/places you will be accepted at the discretion of an individual college or employer. Most will require interview and/or an assessment.

How will I be assessed? 

  • 50% of the total GCSE will be an exam based on food preparation and nutrition. 
  • 15% of the total GCSE will be a food investigation of 1500-2000 words. 
  • 35% of the total GCSE will be a food preparation task.

Anything else I need to know? 

You will need to have:

  • A desire to develop your knowledge of food science.
  •  An interest in the theory side of the course as well as the practical.
  • A good attendance and behaviour record.
  • You must be prepared to hand in all coursework and assignments on time.
