What will I learn in this subject?
During Year 9 we will continue to build on the skills required for GCSE. During the year we will study the Industrial Revolution, the development of democracy, World War One and World War Two. We will then start the GCSE content after easter in Year 9. At GCSE we follow the AQA specification where students will complete two examinations at the end of Year 11. They will study, Germany 1890 -1945: Democracy and dictatorship. Conflict and tension in Asia, 1950 -1975, Britain: Health and the people: c1000 to present day, and Elizabethan England.
What can I do after?
History is an academic subject which is highly respected by employers, colleges and universities alike, because of its wide range of thinking skills. It is useful for many careers, for example:

How is it assessed?
You will sit two papers at the end of Year 11.
Both are 2 hours.
- Paper 1: Understanding the Modern World
- Paper 2: Shaping the Nation
